Case Study #1

Two local entrepreneurs trying to start a new business needed legal help: A $3 billion corporation brought a federal lawsuit seeking an injunction to prevent them from starting up. They hired Connors & Vilardo to fight the injunction. Battling against one of the largest New York City law firms, Connors & Vilardo won a quick dismissal of the lawsuit and a strong rebuke from the judge to the $3 billion corporate giant. The corporation did not appeal. The entrepreneurs opened their business without further challenge.

Case Study #2

A young man was seriously injured in a diving accident. His injuries left him quadriplegic, with total motor and sensory loss below his shoulders. Connors & Vilardo obtained a trial verdict of over $58 million for the young man, including awards for future medical care and rehabilitation, and for loss of potential income. At the time, it was the largest verdict ever awarded by a jury in Western New York and was one of the ten largest in the country that year.

Case Study #3

A multi-million dollar health care company faced a massive governmental investigation, with the threat of criminal prosecution of both the company and its principals. An indictment likely would have meant the company’s collapse. With the goal of preventing any criminal charges, Connors & Vilardo was hired to spearhead the company’s response to the investigation. The firm succeeded in negotiating a civil resolution, which allowed the company to continue to thrive with as little distraction and negative publicity as possible.
